Nothing Like the Real Thing!

"I don't want my picture taken!

What a cute couple

The lone Padre fan

Spring training 08 was a blast and I am already looking forward to next year. We saw the Brewers beat up on the Padres Friday afternoon, then we caught the Angels pound the Rangers that night, and then watched the Angels do the same to the Dodgers on Saturday. We plan on going next year and anyone is welcome to come, fit it in your schedule for the start of March.

Top of 1st Secures Win for Visiting Team

Provo - Jeff, Kira, Brian, Scott, and Spencer took it to the other team in the first inning last night at Edgemont. Jeff Crane led off the game with a walk and then scored on a double by Emmett. He then scored when Kira came up and hit him in on her first Wiffleball Wednesday at bat. Scott Isbell reached on his first at bat and then Brady Bowen walked Jeff again to load the bases. Emmett drew a walk to bring Kira in. On her second at bat she ripped one down the court to drive in two runs.

Jeff and Kira, hit .667 and .750, respectively

Johnson's Vs. Everyone Else

Provo - The Johnson's took on the World Wednesday night, and the World won. In what became the lowest scoring game ever, Everyone Else pulled off the win in extra innings. Ryan and Bekah Johnson, two of the hottest players in Season two, decided they were up to the challenge of playing against Brian, Chris, and newcomer Spencer Kelly. The Johnson's had the lead most of the game once they took it in the first inning, only to let the tying run score in the last inning and then the winning run in extra innings, for a final of 5-4.

Spencer Kelly spent the first half of the season in the Provo temple laundromat on Wednesday, unable to come to the games. He decided he couldn't stand missing the games anymore and quit his job, and boy has it paid off already.

"I just couldn't take washing all of those clothes. At work I would just long to play until I couldn't take it anymore. I thought to myself, 'I'm not supposed to be in here, I'm supposed to be winning games!'"

And that is exactly what Spencer did. He led off in the bottom of the first inning for Everyone Else and went curtain on Ryan. He slowed down in his next couple of bats but came up big when his team needed him. The Johnson's only needed one out to get out of the inning when Spencer stepped up to the plate with bases loaded.

"Brian was on third, Bradshaw was running for me on second, and Ghostrunner was on first. I knew it was up to me, I couldn't let my team down," Spencer said. "Ryan got me on a couple of pitches but I was able to connect with one and send it down the third baseline. Pure bliss. I walked all the way to first with a big smile on my face."

Emmett gave up just 4 runs in an hour or so of Wiffleball action

Ry-Rod Breaks Loose

Provo - Ryan Johnson had a huge game last night at Edgemont, hitting 4 HRs and knocking in 11 RBIs. He also dominated on the mound, giving up only three runs on three hits. He got some help from his outfielder, Brian Emmett, as he robbed two home runs from Chris Bradshaw.

Adam Ottley made his first appearance at Wiffleball Wednesday and made pitched an impressive couple of innings to slowed down the heavy hitting team of Emmett and Johnson & Johnson.

Here is a video of Jeff Crane (Randy Johnson) walking Ryan Johnson:

Season Opener Finds New Faces at Edgemont Stadium

Provo - Laughter filled the halls once again as wiffleball play started up again last night at Edgemont stadium. The season opener brought a lot of new faces, as well as some of old classics, playing in a classic, only-at-wiffleball-wednesday game. Ryan Johnson, with his new wife beside him at first base, pitched his team to an impressive 21-15 win.

"I like to play first because it is the closest to Ryan," Bekah said, still limping from when she got thrown out at the plate by Brian in the last inning. Bekah would have the last laugh though as she became to only player after the night's game to find herself in the top three spots of every statistical category. Way to go, Bekah!

Mrs. Johnson wasn't the only girl with something to prove out there, she was helped by the arrival of two Wiffleball Wednesday rookies, Patrice Erb and Jordan West.

Both of these girls put up impressive numbers; Patrice reaching base every time except her first at bat, and Jordan hitting back to back home runs to help pull her team within a respectable distance.

Scott Isbell and Jeff Crane are both emerging stars and hope to put up impressive numbers this season. Isbell started off the season right with two home runs. He actually hit one home run for each team, as he had to switch sides once Brady and Michelle arrived. Crane is a player ready to help out his team not only offensively, but defensively as well. A solid player all around.

Mark Allen is another WW player that hopes to make a name for himself in the league. He demonstrated the most patience at the plate last night, drawing four walks. His batting average is .000 but he makes up for it with an On-Base-Percentage of .800. It looks like he might continue looking for the walks because the one time he swung the bat, somebody got hurt.

Wiffleball Players Find Everlasting Love

Provo - Wiffleball Wednesday regular season play may have come to a close last December, but the love definitely has not stopped. It started with the marriage of two WW stars on December 28, 2007. Ryan "Ry-Rod" Johnson took Rebekah "jump up and down" Wittig into the Las Vegas temple and was sealed for time and all eternity.
"It feels great, indescribable really," Ry-Rod said. "We'll still plan on coming to every game though. Well, unless...you know...we can't," he added with a wink.
"Ryan is just so dreamy, can you tell I'm thinking about him in this picture?" said Mrs. Johnson.
"Can you blame her, look how charming I am!"
"I'm coming to get'cha, Ryan! Rrrr!"

These two were not the only ones heating things up over the break. Wiffleball star Brian Emmett took things to the next level with his girlfriend, Jackie Donkin, proposing to her in Laguna Beach a few weeks ago.
"How could I say no?" said Jackie. "I mean, you have to admit, he's pretty freakin' cute! Just look at that face!"
Things at Edgemont Stadium are only heating up. Pre-season play began a few weeks ago and there are several new up and coming players. Look out this season for Jeff Crane, Mark Allen, and Scott Isbell, two sluggers with a lot to prove. The season opener is set for this Wednesday night at 9:30.

With guaranteed hard hitting, fast pitching wiffleball action, one can only guess who Cupid might attack this year.
