Season Opener Finds New Faces at Edgemont Stadium

Provo - Laughter filled the halls once again as wiffleball play started up again last night at Edgemont stadium. The season opener brought a lot of new faces, as well as some of old classics, playing in a classic, only-at-wiffleball-wednesday game. Ryan Johnson, with his new wife beside him at first base, pitched his team to an impressive 21-15 win.

"I like to play first because it is the closest to Ryan," Bekah said, still limping from when she got thrown out at the plate by Brian in the last inning. Bekah would have the last laugh though as she became to only player after the night's game to find herself in the top three spots of every statistical category. Way to go, Bekah!

Mrs. Johnson wasn't the only girl with something to prove out there, she was helped by the arrival of two Wiffleball Wednesday rookies, Patrice Erb and Jordan West.

Both of these girls put up impressive numbers; Patrice reaching base every time except her first at bat, and Jordan hitting back to back home runs to help pull her team within a respectable distance.

Scott Isbell and Jeff Crane are both emerging stars and hope to put up impressive numbers this season. Isbell started off the season right with two home runs. He actually hit one home run for each team, as he had to switch sides once Brady and Michelle arrived. Crane is a player ready to help out his team not only offensively, but defensively as well. A solid player all around.

Mark Allen is another WW player that hopes to make a name for himself in the league. He demonstrated the most patience at the plate last night, drawing four walks. His batting average is .000 but he makes up for it with an On-Base-Percentage of .800. It looks like he might continue looking for the walks because the one time he swung the bat, somebody got hurt.
